Associate Prof. Tomonaga and colleagues discovered a fossil record of bornavirus infection in mammalian genomes and suggested new strategies of RNA virus replication and pathogenesis (Nature 463:84-87. 2010). This finding provides a novel insight into the interaction between human and viruses during evolutional history. The American Museum of Natural History (AMNH, http://www.amnh.org/) created an animation video about the discovery and displayed on a screen in the Hall of the AMNH. The short interactive version is featured on the homepage of AMNH.
