The completion ceremony for the 2019 and 2020 BIKEN Taniguchi Overseas Scholarship Program took place in Taniguchi Memorial Hall on February 26th.

This program is intended to foster young researchers, jointly funded by the Research Foundation for Microbial Diseases of Osaka University (BIKEN Foundation※) and RIMD. Through this program, 12 graduate students are currently engaged in research work at our institute.

The ceremony was held for three scholarship awardees; Ariel Pradipta, who completed the doctoral course of the Graduate School of Medicine, Osaka University in AY2019, David and Yuzy Fauzyah, both of who will complete the doctoral course of the Graduate School of Frontier Biosciences in AY2020. The 2019 ceremony has been postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

We hope that these three youngsters will have outstanding achievements in the near future.

※BIKEN Foundation has been engaged in the development of vaccines while the Research Institute for Microbial Diseases (RIMD) has conducted basic research on microbial diseases. Today, BIKEN manufactures various vaccines, e.g. Varicella vaccines, influenza vaccines and Measles-Rubella Combined vaccines.
