Preeclampsia originates from placental insufficiency and both maternal and fetal lives will be endangered if it proceeds unabated. Here we expressed an anti-angiogenic factor (sFLT1) specifically in fetal placenta using a lentiviral vector system and established a unique preeclampsia model mouse. We further demonstrated that statins induced placental growth factor (PGF) and ameliorated the symptoms.
