Innate immune responses elicited by Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are regulated by multiple cellular proteins. In the present study, we show that TANK protein controls production of proinflammatory cytokines, but not type I interferons, to TLR stimuli by inhibiting its signaling pathway. TANK KO mice spontaneously developed autoimmune glomerular nephritis due to aberrant activation of TLR signaling via intestinal microflora.
